About Us

About Our Church

Rooted in faith. United by heritage. Growing in Christ. We exist to be a spiritual home where South Sudanese families can worship, find support, and serve their city together.

Our Story

Founded to serve a growing diaspora with Gospel hope

Edmonton South Sudanese Alliance Church was established in response to a clear need within the growing South Sudanese diaspora in Edmonton. Families were looking for a church home where they could gather around the Word of God, worship in a culturally familiar setting, and build strong spiritual relationships while adapting to life in Canada. The church became a place where faith and community could strengthen one another instead of being separated.

As part of The Christian and Missionary Alliance, Western Canada District, our congregation is connected to a wider fellowship with a shared commitment to the authority of Scripture, the centrality of Christ, and the mission of making disciples. That affiliation provides doctrinal clarity and mission alignment while allowing our congregation to minister in ways that speak directly to the lived experiences of South Sudanese families and newcomers in Edmonton.

Today, the church continues to serve as a spiritual home where people worship, pray, receive pastoral care, celebrate South Sudanese heritage, and support one another through the challenges and opportunities of daily life. We believe the local church should be a place of belonging, healing, and steady growth in Christ for every generation.

Fourfold Gospel

What we believe about Jesus Christ

The Christian and Missionary Alliance summarizes the ministry of Jesus in four life-giving truths. These convictions shape how we preach, pray, care for families, and call people to mature discipleship.

Christ Our Savior

We believe Jesus died and rose again to reconcile sinners to God. Salvation is received by grace through faith, and the Gospel remains the foundation of hope for every person and every family.

Christ Our Sanctifier

We believe Jesus not only saves but also transforms His people through the Holy Spirit. Daily obedience, prayer, and submission to God's Word shape believers into Christlike maturity.

Christ Our Healer

We believe Jesus cares for the whole person and invites us to pray with faith for healing and restoration. We seek His comfort and power in times of physical, emotional, and spiritual need.

Christ Our Coming King

We believe Jesus will return in glory and make all things new. This future hope gives courage for present-day faithfulness, endurance, and joyful expectation.

Our Values

Shared commitments that guide our ministry

These C&MA values anchor how we pray, teach, lead, and engage the community around us. They keep our mission clear and our service centered on God's purposes.

Lost people matter to God. He wants them found.

Prayer is the primary work of God's people.

Everything we have belongs to God. We are His stewards.

Knowing and obeying God's Word is fundamental to all true success.

Completing the Great Commission requires the mobilization of every fully devoted disciple.

Without the Holy Spirit's empowerment, we can accomplish nothing.

Achieving God's purposes means taking faith-filled risks.

Leadership

Serving the church with prayer, wisdom, and care

Our leadership team is committed to shepherding the church with humility, biblical integrity, and a heart for the community. Ministry leadership is shared across pastoral care, discipleship, youth development, and prayer so that the congregation can be supported well in every season.

Leaders work together to help the church remain grounded in Scripture, responsive to community needs, and focused on raising up healthy disciples. Their role is not only to lead programs, but to equip the church for worship, witness, and service.
